Hydropower

Developing and rehabilitating the world’s most challenging facilities.

Reliable and renewable energy is essential to meeting growing demand while supporting resilient communities and sustainable development. For more than 70 years, KCB has been one of Canada’s leading hydroelectric engineering companies, helping clients plan, design, and deliver hydroelectric and heavy civil water resources projects with technically sound, integrated solutions.

Our multidisciplinary team brings together civil, structural, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, mechanical, electrical, protection and controls engineers, along with CADD and GIS technicians, to support every stage of project delivery. Complemented by environmental studies and regulatory assistance, we help clients develop safe, reliable, and sustainable hydropower infrastructure that delivers lasting value for generations to come.

Our Global Sector Presence

Delivering Hydropower expertise across five continents and key international markets.

Western Canada

For over 70 years, KCB has delivered complete multi-disciplinary expertise to keep British Columbia’s hydropower facilities safe, efficient and ready for a clean-energy future.

Our history in the Pacific Northwest includes work on the landmark powerhouse, the Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Facility in Washington state. KCB has brought deep hydropower expertise, global innovation and local presence to Washington’s clean-energy infrastructure for decades.

For many years KCB has been involved in some of Colombia’s largest, most complex hydro-electric projects such as the Ituango Dam.

KCB served as lead civil works designer for the Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric project, one of the largest hydropower dams in Laos. We led all aspects of design for the diversion cofferdams, the RCC main dam to the underground waterways, powerhouse, spillways and saddle dams.

KCB brings seven decades of global hydropower experience to rebuilding critical dam infrastructure and pumped-hydro storage to clients across Australia. Our recent work includes acting as Owner’s Engineer for the Paradise Dam, near Bundaberg, Queensland.
